Tora Dora

Tora Dora is one of the most unique anime of its genre. its not your typical rom-com anime.
It's a new school year and Ryuuji Takasu discovers that not only is he in the same class as his best friend, Yuusaku Kitamura, but also Minori Kushieda whom he's had an undisclosed crush on for quite some time. Along with the two of them comes the “Palmtop Tiger”, tiny Taiga Aisaka and Minori's best friend. Despite her small stature, Taiga takes nothing from anybody and is secretly in love with Kitamura. Ryuuji and Taiga, despite their oil and water relationship, agree to mutually support each other in their quests for their hearts' desire.(taken from myanimelist)

its unique thing how its genre changes slowly. When you watch the first episode, you wouldn't think that it would change into a drama with all the funny characters and ost. it starts of by being a comedy anime and ends with drama. with this, it became one of the most successful anime of the year 2009.

Story: 9/10, it deserves this score for its ambition and such. the only thing i wasn't satisfied with is its ending, i really couldn't understand it. what happened? it's the type of story that will suck you in making you want to know whats gonna happen next. especially during the final episodes of Tora Dora where everything starts to become clear of who likes who. I won't spoil the fun but it's kinda funny when the person who starts off with no one liking him eventually gets everyone's attention.

Characters:7/10  the use of small tsundere characters is very famous nowadays with story like zero no tsukaima, hayate no gotoku, shakugan no shana. almost every character is unique in its own way. one character is related to another and you can even call it a love-pentagon. the characters begin to get interesting during the second half of the story. they find out their true feelings and you can see jelousy, honesty, sacrifice, betrayal and such.

music/art: nothing much to say, everage i guess. the only thing is the ost. it'll give you the impression that this anime is a comedy but it's actually gonna turn into a drama.

overall: 8/10, i would give a 9/10 but i just hated the ending. i would recommend this to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary.

i've also read the light novel but for this story, the anime version is better. because it just shows the emotion of the characters very well. like any other anime adapted from a novel, the novel is way more detailed than the anime but its really slow because it takes time to read every single word. The anime gives you this feeling of excitement and rush where you feel like an episode moves by really quickly.

heres a preview, really. just by watching it. you'll think its gonna be like hardcore comedy, don't be fooled :D.
